That’s where Squad Foundation players come into play. These early-game cards are great to build your team around in the first few weeks of the game, especially for those who don’t want to fork out extra money for FC Points and Store packs, but you can’t just pack them—you need to earn them.

So far, there appears to be 18 Squad Foundation players in EA FC 27 Ultimate Team, though more could arrive as the game’s first Season progresses.

The information comes from reliable EA FC leaker ASY FUT on X. These cards won’t be available in packs; instead, you’ll need to complete various Objectives and SBCs to earn them, whilst others may appear on the Season Pass.

Don’t expect these cards to be team-defining, but they should prove to be reliable cornerstones of your team, especially for the early weeks of Ultimate Team. That said, the lower ratings should make them a great foundation for many Evolutions, so there’s the chance they grow in strength if you’re willing to work on them.

Are Squad Foundation Players Worth It?

Squad Foundation players can be well worth the effort of unlocking them in EA FC 27, especially for the early game.

When your team consists of low-level Gold cards and the odd star, Squad Foundation players can be well worth adding to your squad, especially if you haven’t settled on a squad focus yet. That’s because every Squad Foundation player provides additional League Chemistry, making it easier to include them in hybrid squads.

Of course, with the cards unavailable in packs, they provide a means of earning some guaranteed rewards early-game, giving you some simple steps to improve your team. They most likely won’t remain in your team for very long, but if the Objectives are easy or the SBCs are cheap, they’re usually worth the effort.
