After Empulse Early Access Launch, 1047 Games Has More Layoffs

Just weeks after Empulse’s launch into Early Access on Steam, developer 1047 Games has held another round of layoffs.

News of the layoffs came from impacted employees on LinkedIn on Monday.

Empulse Failed To Gain Traction

It’s unclear how many people were caught in this latest set of job cuts. One person who was let go was a former principal technical sound designer, who says it was his second layoff in under two years. Another impacted employee, an associate producer, called his time with the company an “incredible four years”.

1047 Games has yet to release a statement on the layoffs, though Insider Gaming has reached out for comment on their scope. Should a response be received, it will be added to this article.

Empulse launched into Early Access on June 24 to mostly positive reviews. However, player counts peaked at just under 2,900 concurrents, with it slowly falling day over day. The studio’s other game, Splitegate: Arena Reloaded, which is a rebrand of Splitgate 2, is struggling on Steam with an average daily concurrent count of roughly 250 players.

If you recall, 1047 Games held layoffs a year ago after the full release of what was then Splitgate 2. At the time, they said it was done to redirect resources “to build the best game for our players.”
