A new report by a Danish publication reveals that 007 First Light had a budget of over $200 million, making it Denmark’s most expensive cultural product.

IO Interactive had a great launch with 007 First Light, with the game selling 1.5 million copies in the first 24 hours. However, there is no way to know how these numbers help the developers without knowing how much money was spent to develop the game, and a new report seemingly reveals the budget.

007 First Light Reportedly Had a Budget of Over $200 Million

Spotted by IGN, a report by Denmark’s TV2 states that 007 First Light had a budget of 1.3 billion Danish krone, which comes up to around $202 million. The release has come as a major milestone for Denmark’s gaming industry, marking 007 First Light as “the most expensive cultural product in Denmark ever”, according to Niels Wetterberg, director of Games Denmark. There is also a comparison chart which shows the budget of Denmark’s most notable films, TV shows, and music videos, and 007 First Light’s cost is dramatically higher.

For those unaware, 007: First Light is a new, critically acclaimed espionage action-adventure game developed by IO Interactive. The game follows the origins of James Bond and his journey to becoming 007. Players will explore a variety of locations around the world, driving iconic vehicles, utilizing various gadgets, and resorting to both fistfights and firepower to achieve their objectives. As Bond, players can also use their charm to navigate challenges and get things done. The title has also become the highest-rated James Bond game in the past 30 years.
