Esports leaves Asian Games for dedicated 2027 event in Kuwait

Esports will no longer be part of the Asian Games programme after Aichi-Nagoya 2026, with the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) now preparing a dedicated Asian Esports and Mind Sports Games.

The OCA has signed the Host City contract with Kuwait to stage the inaugural edition of the new event in 2027. The announcement marks the next step in a decision the OCA Executive Board already approved in Nov. 2024.
