Perfect World Confirms Shanghai as Host City of 2027 CS2 Major

Perfect World has officially announced the Perfect World Shanghai 2027 Major, confirming the host city of the second Major of the 2027 Counter-Strike calendar.

The event will take place from November 22 to December 12, 2027, completing the Counter-Strike calendar for the year with a return to Shanghai, which hosted the Perfect World Shanghai 2024 Major.

What we know so far about the Perfect World Shanghai 2027 Major

The official news follows a seemingly accidental confirmation of Perfect World as the host of the second CS2 Major of 2027.

A post unveiling a contest encouraged fans to guess which city in China the Major would be held in, confirming that the Major would take place in China and inadvertently confirming Perfect World as the Tournament Organizer.

Ultimately, it did not take long for the official confirmation to come, as Perfect World shared the news overnight that they would indeed host the event in Shanghai.

That location has long been known in the community following reporting from HLTV that the two Majors in 2027 would take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Shanghai, China.

Combined with the PGL Singapore 2026 Major, that means that at least three Majors in a row will not be in Europe, effectively creating a two-year gap between the IEM Cologne 2026 Major and the next European Major, the longest time without a European Major in Counter-Strike history.

As for the specifics of the Perfect World Shanghai 2027 Major, venues are yet to be announced. The 2024 edition Playoffs were held in the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center, where Spirit lifted the trophy after a legendary battle against FaZe on Dust 2.

The Shanghai Major also boasted a crowd for its Swiss Stages, played at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center, where crowds were present for both the A-stream and B-stream matches.

Perhaps we’ll see a similar set-up in Shanghai again in November-December 2027.
