Marvel’s Wolverine reviews fall short of Insomniac’s Spider-Man highs

Marvel’s Wolverine is coming out in less than a week, but the review scores for this long-awaited Insomniac title are falling well below expectations. The score has settled at 78 on Metacritic based on 111 reviews, and OpenCritic currently has it at the same 78, with 73% of reviewers recommending it. The numbers are still positive overall, but these scores are well below Marvel’s Spider-Man at 87, Miles Morales at 85, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 at 90.

All of that makes Wolverine the lowest-rated original Insomniac game in a decade, going back to Song of the Deep in 2016, and a notably weaker critical debut than anything from the studio’s Spider-Man series.
