OVFX Studio is Accused of Not Paying Employees and Contractors for Game Development

OVFX Studio, an Outlook Company, has been accused by both employees and contractors of failing to pay for completed game development.

Sources tell Insider Gaming that OVFX Studio has ignored requests to pay invoices tied to one of the studio’s latest game development projects, often completely ignoring people who ask for payment for completed work.

Screenshots sent to Insider Gaming on the condition that they do not go public show almost daily requests for payment being delayed by excuses including travel, work, and even church.

Reviews left on Glassdoor, a popular job and recruiting website where current and former employees anonymously rate and review companies, show that payment issues have been ongoing for some time.

“Missed paychecks, low pay, bounced checks, empty promises, and inexperienced management,” said one former employee.

“Compensation is a disaster, with Direct Deposit no longer in effect due to banking issues, leading to recurring delays in employee pay. The studio has no other revenue sources, and the toxic environment worsened with rounds of layoffs targeting those who spoke out against poor treatment of lack of appropriate compensation, transforming the office into a cult of yes-men,” said another.

“We were on direct deposit for a couple of times on and off. It actually worked well, and then suddenly we were back onto physical checks, which kept bouncing. Payment delays were frequent. Anytime someone dared to ask the CEO for when they would be compensation via backpay, he would retaliate and fire them,” said a third.

Many criticisms seem pointed towards OVFX Studio’s CEO, Trevor Pryce, who has a tendency to lash out, block, or fire employees and contractors for speaking out over pay. Some former staff tell Insider Gaming that it feels like money has been bled dry because of the constant payment issues.

Trevor Pryce is a former professional American football player. Pryce started his second career in 2023, writing his first series called Kulipari: An Army of Frogs. The series began as an animated series for Netflix in 2016. Kulipari: United, a high-octane 3D Beat ‘Em Up video game by OVFX Studio, is now in development based on the same series.
