Ubisoft Gets Added to Xbox Disc-to-Digital 18 Hours After Media Reports

Ubisoft games are starting to be compatible with XBOX’s Disc-to-Digital program, following yesterday’s coverage of the publisher’s titles being unavailable.

Microsoft‘s big Disc-to-Digital program allows players to benefit from XBOX‘s digital support, like Play Anywhere, while preserving the physical media, and the list of compatible games is growing.

Yesterday, we covered Ubisoft‘s apparent absence from the program, with proof that titles were displaying messages that they were not supported, but things have started to change.

Ubisoft Games Now Working With Disc-to-Digital

Users on social media are now reporting that several Ubisoft titles are now working with the program, as reported by Windows Central’s Jez Corden, who adds that he has it on “good authority” that other publishers will be added in the future.

The upcoming growth of XBOX’s Disc-to-Digital program is not a surprise, especially considering it’s currently only available to XBOX Insiders, and, as we mentioned yesterday, Ubisoft’s previous absence was not an indication that the games would never be available on the program.

Among the publishers still unavailable on the XBOX Disc-to-Digital program, at the time of writing, are Bandai Namco, SEGA, and Square Enix, but the trio, along with plenty of others, may join as the program evolves.

Indeed, it’s not a quick addition in many cases, as publishers will need to ensure any licensing deals match up and check further details before approving their games in the program.

The ever-growing list in the Disc-to-Digital program will continue to evolve over time, so don’t be surprised when more big names jump on board.
