KRÜ Esports has denied allegations that its founder, former Argentina and Manchester City footballer Sergio Agüero, used the esports organisation for drug trafficking and money laundering.
KRÜ was founded by Agüero in 2020 and competes in Valorant’s VCT Americas and Game Changers, as well as Sim Racing and Pokémon VGC.
According to reports by La Política Online, Agüero was mentioned numerous times in the court case of Pablo ‘Bebote’ Álvarez, an individual arrested last week and accused of being part of an international drug trafficking organization.
The report alleges that a business which mixed drug trafficking with legitimate revenue from ticket sales sought to benefit from Agüero’s public image and launch “KRÜ TICKETS” using his esports team’s branding.
However, KRÜ Esports has released a statement claiming that there was no partnership between the two.

The official statement from KRÜ Esports claims that the report links Agüero to “people who, without his knowledge of their activities or intentions, tried to approach KRÜ seeking to benefit from his image.”
The official post then further states:
“The situation is clear: there is and never was any professional, personal, or commercial relationship between Sergio and/or our club with anyone belonging to that group of people.”
KRÜ concedes that it was approached to partner with a ticketing company, but claims there was no eventual collaboration:
“The team analyzed it, as we do with everything, and rejected it. That was the end of it: zero partnership, zero investment, zero joint activity.”
To date, as the investigation continues, no charges or legal indictments have been made against Agüero or KRÜ Esports.
