Ananta Will Be Supported For At Least 7 Years

Ananta is shaping up to be a huge free-to-play, open-world adventure when it launches next year, and while it will feature its own narrative, the game is also being built around a live-service model.

With that in mind, it seems NetEase and developer Naked Rain are already thinking well beyond launch, with current plans calling for Ananta to be supported for at least seven years. If those plans remain in place, the game could still be receiving new content as late as 2034 and beyond.

Ananta Is In It For The Long Haul

I was lucky enough to preview Ananta during Gamescom this summer, where I played through two story missions and got a brief glimpse at its expansive open world. I also had the opportunity to interview the game’s publishing and marketing leads, who offered some insight into the team’s ambitions for the game beyond launch.

When asked how long it might take the average player to work their way through Ananta’s mountain of content, the developers revealed that there are at least 100 hours of content available. That includes progressing through the main story, exploring the open world, and dipping into the game’s various side activities.

However, that figure could grow substantially over time, as Naked Rain is already looking towards Ananta’s long-term future.

That’s where the game’s Live Ops come in, with the team planning to regularly add new quests, characters, maps and more. Most importantly, Naked Rain’s current plan is to support Ananta post-launch for “at least seven years.”

That would give Ananta a potentially enormous lifespan, with the game’s content continuing to expand long after its initial release. Of course, plans can always change, but it’s clear that Naked Rain isn’t viewing Ananta as a game that’s going to disappear after a few months of service.
