Is WARDOGS on PlayStation or Xbox? Console Status & Platforms

WARDOGS might be the next big first-person shooter. We said it. The first playtest attracted a lot of players, and with 100 players per lobby and explosive gunfights and action, you can see why PlayStation, XBOX, and Nintendo Switch players are desperate to get involved.

BULKHEAD‘s eagerness to give 100 mercenaries unparalleled freedom in its FPS is a recipe for happiness. All we ever want in games is satisfaction and a sense of freedom, and WARDOGS might be the ultimate controlled, yet liberating first-person shooter sandbox ever.

Can You Play WARDOGS on PS5?

WARDOGS is currently not locked and loaded and ready to go on PlayStation 5 consoles right now, nor on PS4, for that matter.

I mentioned PlayStation 4 as a courtesy, as there’s simply no way it can handle the awesome power required to run WARDOGS. 100 players. Total nonstop ballistic action, explosions, destruction; it’s going to be a glorious fight that rages on for months and years.

That fight isn’t available for PS5 just yet, though.

Can You Play WARDOGS on Xbox Series X|S?

The WARDOGS fight is also not live for XBOX Series X|S or XBOX One users.

You might have seen players online in WARDOGS lobbies; it’s because they’ve managed to get into playtests and betas—and these are only available on PC and Steam for now.

Can You Play WARDOGS on Nintendo Switch or Switch 2?

One final console and platform, and it’s one more rejection, as WARDOGS is only available as a PC title in early access for now.

I’ll circle back to the ‘for now’ shortly, but OG Switch and Switch 2 owners will also have to watch WARDOGS streams online and picture themselves in the thick of the action, alongside PlayStation and XBOX owners.

The devs have provided an update on WARDOGS’ future.

When Will WARDOGS be Released on Consoles?

In March 2026, during a WARDOGS Q&A, consoles came up, and the dev answering the questions said that they definitely want the game on consoles.

I’ve done some digging and haven’t found anything more recent than this, but if we see something, we’ll update you.

During the ‘WARDOGS | Answering Your Questions’ YouTube video, one of the questions asked: ‘Will it only be PC or will it come to PS5 and XBOX?’

Here’s the answer:

“We absolutely want to come to XBOX and PlayStation. Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about you guys. We’re coming to console. That’s our plan, we just don’t know when.”

This does mean that a Nintendo Switch launch isn’t guaranteed, either that or it was left out in the heat of the moment.

There’s a belief in the community that the PS5 and XBOX versions might be once WARDOGS launches in its official 1.0 state. WARDOGS is expected to be in early access for months, so this might not be until late 2027 or even 2028.
