Daba: Land of Water Scar Finally Gets New Look at State of Play

First announced way back in 2023, we haven’t seen too much of Daba: Land of Water Scar. Someone has obviously realised this, which is why it got a sharp new trailer during the September 2026 Sony State of Play broadcast to remind everyone that it means business.

PlayStation‘s China Hero Project has been in full force over the last several years. Daba: Land of Water Scar is one of the bigger unreleased projects so far, and we’ve seen gameplay chunks and the odd trailer here and there, but the title returns to the main stage at the newest State of Play.

Daba: Land of Water Scar Has ‘Soul’ in New Trailer

According to Sony: ‘The China Hero Project is a PlayStation mentoring and support initiative for China-based developers, helping them create incredible games that reach a global audience.’

Daba: Land of Water Scar sees you control a clay puppet that’s become human, and you must guide them through different lands, engaging in countless combat encounters along the way.

The PS5 exclusive leans heavily into action and incorporates some of those testing Soulslike elements that seem to be in most action games nowadays.

‘Axis of the Worlds have fallen. The waters have run dry. The world of Daba is dying of thirst. You are a clayman that should never have awakened, walking across the ruined snowfields and desolate deserts. The shattered souls of fallen gods rain down from the sky, and a plague creeps in the shadows. Beneath the ancient mask, twin blades rest in your grip. Cross the parched earth, cut the lies. The missions forced upon you. The ambitions that burn. And every hand that tries to pull your strings. Seize the water, reforge the divine soul. Even if shattered, rise from the ruins and push forward. The one bound to your fate awaits you at the end of the road.’
