During the September 3 PlayStation State of Play, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation had its release date revealed: April 8, 2027. Interestingly, the final part of the trilogy will be released almost 7 years after the launch of the first game, which took place on April 10, 2020.
The date reveal was accompanied by a robust gameplay video, showcasing several brand-new locations such as Wutai village, the open world, and even one of the powerful Weapons.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Arriving on 8th April
In the first video revealed at the event, we can see some gameplay featuring various party members, such as Yuffie, Cid, Barret, and the long-awaited Vincent. We can see the team facing intense battles against mechanical and monstrous foes, underscoring the high stakes of their journey to save the Lifestream and the world.
In addition to the trailer with the release date, the game received a deep dive revealing numerous gameplay mechanics. Chocobos will play a more active role in combat, being able to strike enemies. The unprecedented FITS system was also highlighted. This new mechanic allows players to assign one of four roles to characters—Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, or Summoner—significantly changing their combat abilities and playstyle.
The Queen’s Blood has also been highlighted. The tactical card game returns with a new saga centering on Red XIII, featuring tougher opponents who use special abilities to change the board state.
Finally, exploration received significant attention. Players gain control of the Highwind early in the game, which enables seamless and extensive traversal of the planet. They can parachute directly from the air to specific locations on the ground. Additionally, players will have access to a Grappling Gun for vertical exploration, allowing them to quickly reach rooftops and vantage points.
