Saber Interactive Denies Working on Ori 3 With XBOX

Tim Willits is the chief creative officer at Saber Interactive, with experience in the games industry since 1995, including roles at Rogue Entertainment, id Software, and Saber Interactive. When quizzed about the company’s potential involvement with the rumored Ori 3 project, his response was swift and clear.

If you’ve never played one of Moon Studios‘ Ori games, I highly recommend you stop whatever you’re doing and go play them. I didn’t know much about the franchise before I played Ori and the Blind Forest, and I was left teary-eyed by both its story and the beauty of the game. It’s understandable that it takes so long to meticulously craft an Ori game, which is why even just rumors of a third game are music to the ears.

Ori 3 Has Nothing to do With Saber Interactive

The lead-up to Gamescom 2026 included an intriguing rumor that a new XBOX sequel was being revealed, and reports suggested it was none other than Ori 3.

Moon Studios seemingly moved on from Ori after 2020’s Ori and the Will of the Wisps, as the team has been working on No Rest For The Wicked’s early access and the eventual 1.0 launch.

But even though the Ori director said that Ori 3 rumors were ‘Nonsense,’ copium is real. Tim Willits was asked about the Ori 3 rumor during an interview with Gamertag Radio’s Danny Peña:

“Right before Opening Night Live, there was rumors of you guys [Saber] working on Ori 3 with XBOX.”

Willits was quick to shut the idea down:

“No. We’re not working on it. Sorry.”

He did tease that more stuff is coming soon, but then discussed Saber’s upcoming games, from Hellraiser: Revival to Stuntman: Hollywood. This doesn’t mean Ori 3 isn’t happening, and it’s all about the waiting game to see if the rumor was, hopefully, more than just that.
