VCT EMEA Stage 2 Barcelona Finals Preview: Who Can Make Valorant Champions Shanghai?

Valorant’s premier European, Middle Eastern, and African competition reaches its climax as the EMEA Stage 2 Finals begin in Barcelona.

The VCT EMEA Stage 2 Finals, from August 28-30, will decide the final two spots for Valorant Champions Shanghai 2026 as well as crown the champions of the region for the final time before the VCT 2027 revamp.

The VCT EMEA Stage 2 Barcelona Finals are the first time VCT EMEA’s regional competition has left Riot Games’ Berlin Studios to compete in an arena location.

VCT EMEA Stage 2 Finals Bracket:

Upper Bracket Final:

  • FUT Esports vs Karmine Corp

Lower Bracket Semi-Final:

  • Fire Flux Esports vs Team Liquid

Lower Bracket Final:

  • Loser of FUT/Karmine Corp vs Winner of Fire Flux/Liquid

Following a Play-in stage that saw NAVI, PCIFIC, Fnatic, Team Heretics, and Eternal Fire all fall to Valorant Challenger teams, the picture has somewhat stabilised for VCT teams in the playoffs.

Only Fire Flux Esports remains in the competition after they impressively eliminated Team Vitality in the lower bracket before upending VCT EMEA Kickoff winners BBL Esports.

The Challengers team still holds alive the dream of a Tier 2 organization in making VCT Champions, something they can achieve by placing top two in the event.

That means two series victories in a row are required in Barcelona, starting against a Team Liquid roster that has looked strong again after the return of new father Ayaz ‘nAts’ Akhmetshin to the roster.

Liquid are no strangers to eliminating Challengers teams, with the roster surviving a scare against Eintract Frankfurt in the lower bracket before 2-0ing Enterprise the following round.

In the upper bracket, one of Karmine Corp and FUT will make the Grand Final. FUT somewhat faltered in the group stage of VCT EMEA Stage 2, but the team really turned it on when the play-ins started.

The Turkish team has dropped only one map in four series on their way from the play-ins to the Upper Bracket Final, defeating GiantX, Eternal Fire, Liquid, and BBL along the way.

Karmine Corp, the winners of Group Omega, showed a fundamental shift and maturation of the roster from the EWC qualifiers onwards.

Hazem ‘avez’ Khaled’s boys needed only to win one series, a 2-1 victory over a very threatening Enterprise, to make the Upper Bracket Final after the team’s group success.

Victory in this series would immediately mean Karmine Corp’s qualification to Valorant Champions Shanghai, with the team’s poor Kickoff and Stage 1 preventing the possibility of qualifying on points.

Vitality and FUT are already guaranteed to be in China via VCT Points, so for Fire Flux, Liquid, and Karmine Corp, there is only one thing on their mind: Grand Finals qualification.

That means that Team Heretics are left to pray that their rivals for the Shanghai spots fail in their pursuit, requiring FUT and Team Liquid to make the Grand Final to ensure they grab the slot in Shanghai.
