Once Human Surpasses 30 Million Users

Once Human developers, Starry Studio has revealed to Insider Gaming that the title has surpassed 30 million users on PC.

The post-apocalyptic free-to-play title announced today that it will expand to consoles, bringing it to even more players. However, the title has already surpassed 30 million on PC, with more to come thanks to the platform’s expansion. The game’s Steam review rating is in a good place, too, with an 80% positive rating on the platform.

Once Human’s 30 Million Users Have Much More to Look Forward To

During Gamescom 2026, I had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Derek Qiu, the head of operations at Once Human, to check out their upcoming expansion. While discussing it, Qiu revealed that the game had already surpassed 30 million users ahead of the console release.

Along with the console release, the developers have announced the Isles of Abyss expansion, the largest expansion to date. The Isles of Abyss expansion will not just add a new region or a mechanic; it brings fundamental changes to the game.

With the update, players will explore the ocean, a living, breathing element in the game that treats them based on their progression. Players have to build their own highly customisable rafts to traverse the sea which is filled with mechanical beasts that are out to get you.

It also introduces a whole new gameplay loop, where your grinding in the ocean also helps with grinding on the land, with a bunch of loot to grab, islands to explore, and more.
