Beast of Reincarnation Director Has Apologized About Game And Promised Improvements

Game Freak’s big, new IP is Beast of Reincarnation. The action title is a slight glow-up from the Pokémon games the developer is known for, and while it was good, the game’s director has apologized.

It’s fair to say that Beast of Reincarnation was one of the bigger Summer 2026 prospects. An established developer behind it with promising-looking gameplay and graphics, what’s not to like? A few bits…apparently.

“There Are Still Things That Need to be Addressed” About Beast of Reincarnation

I’ll preface by saying Beast of Reincarnation has a 73/100 score on Metacritic, based on 60 PS5 reviews.

Online discourse will tell you otherwise, but anything seven or over is a good game!

However, Game Freak was possibly looking for more, and director Kota Furushima told 4gamer (in a translated interview) about some of the team’s plans and offered some words for fans:

“First of all, I feel there are still things that need to be addressed honestly and sincerely. We apologize for the parts where you haven’t been able to play comfortably enough.

On the other hand, I also feel that the parts I wanted to convey as a game have truly reached through. However, to ensure you can enjoy it that much, there are still areas that need improvement, so we want to make sure to improve it.”

A Beast of Reincarnation patch has already started to fix some of the game’s problems, but there’s probably much more to come.

Later in the interview, Furushima offered final words to the community:

“Thank you so much to everyone playing right now. While you enjoy it, there are still areas that need improvement, and we apologize for making it difficult to play. We want to respond thoroughly going forward while listening to the feedback we receive.”

Personally, we enjoyed it and feel Beast of Reincarnation wasn’t deserving of some of the negativity it received, but it will be interesting to see if this has any knock-on effect on Pokémon Winds and Waves and possible fan reception to the games, including expectations.
