More The Lord of the Rings ‘Classic Rereleases’ Are Coming

Depending on how old you are, Lord of the Rings games might be Shadow of Mordor or Shadow of War to you. For many of us, we go back further. So it’s exciting to hear that additional The Lord of the Rings classic releases are happening.

If you never played The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers or The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, then goodness me, you have missed out. They’re peak mid-2000s action, hack-and-slash games from the era, and there’s now a real possibility they’re not Mt. Doomed forever.

‘Look Forward to More Classic The Lord of the Rings Rereleases’

Lord of the Rings War in the North Legacy Edition Shadow Dropped on August 11, and the 2011 PS3 and Xbox 360 title was reborn in the blink of Sauron’s eye.

Developer and publisher Aspyr issued a press release for it, and while it tells all about War in the North, one conspicuous line gives us a look into the crystal ball.

Here’s what the company said:

The Lord of the Rings: War in the North™ – Legacy Edition is licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and is the first The Lord of the Rings title released by Aspyr. Fans can look forward to even more classic releases by Aspyr from the beloved franchise in the future!‘

More. Classic. Releases.

Again, Shadow of Mordor and War are far too recent in comparison. This means the dream of the OG trilogy games from the noughties coming back is more likely.

With recent LOTR games—Gollum and Tales of the Shire—not living up to expectations, this at least guarantees great LOTR games.

It’s a good time to be a fan of the franchise, too, with a new The Lord Of The Rings game in development, which could be the one to break the recent bad string of releases.
