Asha Sharma Praises Gears’ ‘Distinct Visual Identity’

Asha Sharma praised the new Gears of War: E-Day limited edition XBOX controllers, highlighting the franchise’s unique visual identity.

Players were previously informed by a reliable insider that a limited edition Gears of War: E-Day Xbox controller was in development, with details about its design and pricing expected to be revealed. Now, the official announcement has been made, confirming that not just one, but two controllers will be released to celebrate the launch.

Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition XBOX Controllers Arrive in September

The first Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition XBOX controller features “3D molded, laser-etched details of cracked asphalt with red, glowing cracks created by the power of an erupting E-hole, exposing the iconic Crimson Omen beneath the surface.” The ABY buttons have been blacked out with a transparent red ‘X’ button, along with matching red triffers and a transparent D-pad to “reflect the destruction left in the wake of Emergence Day.” There’s also a dark silver metallic COG tag on the battery door along with textured grips.

From September 30, fans will also be able to create their own Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition XBOX Wireless Controller with XBOX Design Lab with the help of exclusive artwork from renowned heavy metal illustrator Luke Preece. The centerpiece features a skull perched atop crossed Lancers, surrounded by skulls and battle-worn details. Players can apply their own upgrades through metallic triggers and D-pads, rubberized side and back grips, and a personalized engraving.

Both new limited-edition controllers will be showcased at the XBOX booth at Gamescom 2026. There’s also an 8BitDo Ultimate Charging Dock, an accessory you can purchase for the limited-edition Gears of War: E-Day controllers. The controllers can be preordered for $89.99.

XBOX CEO Asha Sharma reposted the trailer for the new controllers with the caption, “Gears has one of the most distinctive visual identities in gaming. The team put a lot of thought into these and I love how they turned out.”
