Xbox 360 Games Are Coming To PC

Your favorite Xbox 360 games could be coming to PC. Just over a week after Xbox confirmed that games for the original Xbox console were coming to PC as part of its backwards compatibility program, new details have surfaced regarding the Xbox 360.

In a new report from The Verge, Microsoft recently sent a document to developers with plans to bring Xbox 360 games to PC.

According to the document, which was seen by The Verge, Xbox 360 games will be playable on handheld devices, “Xbox PCs”, and the upcoming Project Helix console.

The report says that developers of Xbox 360 games can “opt into making them backward compatible, and they will have control over things like a game’s price and if it’s available on Game Pass.”

The document suggests a “gradual” rollout of Xbox 360 on PC between 2027 and 2028. For the Xbox originals on PC, a full launch is planned for October 2026.

In addition to these games coming to PC, Xbox is also working on a new disc-to-digital feature. With this new feature, which is expected to be revealed this month, players will be given digital licenses to the physical games they already own. They will need to insert a disc into their console, which will then give their account access to the game across Xbox devices. Should they trade in the game or give it away, whomever then puts the disc into their system will take over the digital license to the game.
