Huge Changes Revealed For Escape from Tarkov’s Kappa Container

For those not entirely familiar with the upper echelons of the Escape from Tarkov space, the Kappa container is seen as one of the most sought-after and aspirational items in the entire game. It’s a secure ‘pocket’ container that allows you to store items that won’t get dropped if you die, but to get it, you have to slog through hours upon hours of challenging gameplay.

Battlestate Games, the developer behind Escape from Tarkov, has just confirmed that massive changes are being lined up for Kappa with the 1.1.0.0 update, which is set to drop at the end of the month and introduces some of the most major tweaks to the game seen since November’s 1.0 release.

Tarkov’s Kappa is Undergoing Immense Changes

In a post on social media, Battlestate Games revealed the new criteria required to unlock Kappa, which will go into effect when 1.1.0.0 drops at the end of July.

It looks like this:

  • Loyalty LL4 with Therapist
  • Loyalty LL4 with Prapor
  • Loyalty LL4 with Peacekeeper
  • Loyalty LL4 with Mechanic
  • Loyalty LL4 with Jaeger
  • Loyalty LL4 with Skier
  • Loyalty LL4 with Ragman
  • Reputation LL3 with Fence
  • Character LL40
  • Chemical Part 4
  • A Shooter Born in Heaven
  • The Tarkov Shooter – Part 4
  • Sew it Good – Part 4
  • Collector

The team wrote:

Obtaining the “Kappa” secure container under the new requirements will grant a new achievement. The unique “Kappa Path” achievement will no longer be obtainable once the first season begins.

As a reminder, update 1.1.0.0 is scheduled for release before the end of July. If you’re already close to earning your first “Kappa”, you still have time to finish it before the changes go live!

This change feeds nicely into the recent trend of making harder or older games much more accessible, which Battlestate Games has accommodated quite nicely. Some quality-of-life changes are coming to the game in the coming months to make the game much less daunting for new players, and the Kappa change fits into the ‘casual gamer’ rhetoric quite nicely.
