Despite Pushback, One Feature Won’t Return In College Football 27

Though EA Sports has made a couple of changes to College Football 27 in response to fan pushback, there’s one feature that won’t return this year.

The company put out a blog post detailing what’s to come in the first title up on July 16. In addition to the updates, EA went into detail about certain decisions it made while developing this year’s game.

Everything Was Done For A Reason

Discussing Road to Glory progression, EA says that it was built in College Football 27 around “the full structure of the mode”. That includes the player’s chosen difficulty, weekly decisions, NIL deals, fitness, Wear and Tear, and more.

“The Weekly Agenda is tuned around the full player management loop in College Football 27,” they said.

Because of the changes made around the core progression of the mode, EA says that standalone XP sliders won’t be returning to Road to Glory.

On top of that, the developers say that players starting at a lower overall than in College Football 26 was also on purpose.

“That is intentional and tied to how progression is now paced across the full career,” EA said. “College Football 27 adds annual scholarship bonuses to create more offseason progression, with bonuses paying out each year instead of progression being concentrated only at the start of your career or week to week.”

EA says that it will “continue to evaluate” the mode’s progression and make adjustments where needed.

“The core structure, however, is intentional and is the foundation of Road to Glory moving forward,” they added.
