Tibia, the near-thirty-year-old MMORPG from CipSoft, has a huge summer update on the horizon. The game, which has been a staple of the MMO space for three decades, is about to undergo massive changes, and the beating heart of this update is a boss battle feature that fans have been after for a long time.
A new quest will pave the way for an endlessly difficult boss battle system that allows players to crank up the challenge and secure the most powerful weapons in Tibia. That feature is joined by the game’s first-ever practice mode, updates to weapon proficiency, and a discovery system that encourages exploration.
Tibia Continues to Grow After Three Decades
In January, Tibia will celebrate 30 years on the market. This MMO has proven to be such a success for CipSoft that it has laid the groundwork for an all-new venture: a post-apocalyptic MMORPG bursting with zombie-fuelled action.
In a new blog post, CipSoft revealed everything coming in the summer update, including new ‘Echo Raids’, fresh bosses, new outfits, and a string of items to uncover.
The central point of the summer update is the Make Believe mechanic, which allows users to set a challenge level for the game’s toughest bosses, battling them to unlock the best weapons in Tibia. Here’s what the team wrote:
With Make Believe, you face Tibia’s most challenging boss experience yet. A self-proclaimed prophet has raised a radiant cloud palace above the western sea, where warped followers guard his path to godhood. The new scalable boss system lets your group choose its challenge, unlock higher difficulties and pursue greater rewards, including new best-in-slot Moonsilver gear.
Echo Raids add a new avenue for combat, with enemies players encounter potentially turning into echoes and triggering extra events. Again, it’s all about adding new challenges that eventually lead to more potent rewards.
The all-new Discovery System is another killer addition to Tibia with the summer update. This allows users to fully explore areas of the map, and once they’ve ticked the right boxes, they’ll unlock perks based on movement speed. The more you explore, the faster you’ll become.
These changes arrive mere weeks after a new starter zone was introduced, the game’s base classes (including the first one since 1997) were overhauled, and accessibility was boosted beyond all recognition.
