I don’t think anyone expected Grand Theft Auto 6 to be given a PEGI 7 or PG rating. But online safety laws are now in place for a reason, and if Rockstar Games doesn’t ensure these regulations are followed for GTA 6, there could be BIG consequences.
Can you believe it’s only four months until GTA 6? It’s not getting delayed this time; it’s finally happening.
Anticipate this being one of the most violent and adult-themed games in history, and this is partly why age verification will be required in Australia.
Rockstar Games ‘Can Face Civil Penalties of Up to $49.5m Per Breach’

As reported by news.com.au, in accordance with new Australian legislation introduced in 2026, GTA 6 players in the country will need to complete age verification to play the game.
It’s unclear if this will apply to the main game or if this will be for the inevitable new GTA 6 Online multiplayer mode.

‘However the regulations for GTA 6 might be even more onerous given it will have a R18+ classification.
According to Australia’s online laws, any content classified as R18+ must verify that its users are adults.
Game creators, in this case Rockstar Games can face civil penalties of up to $49.5m per breach for non compliance.’
Per breach…which could quickly add up: Rockstar Games will need to be on the case then!
Again, so many people of all age groups will be desperate to play GTA 6 single-player and online content, so it’ll be interesting to see how big the clampdown on age verification and security for GTA 6 will be.
Tingle the taste buds further with a reminder of GTA 6 Trailer 2.
