2026 has been great for Crimson Desert: It’s one of the best RPGs, it’s sold extremely well, and its support continues. Now, Pearl Abyss’ CEO has addressed a new Switch 2 port in development.

There was a lot of hype for Crimson Desert before launch. So much so that there were worries it would crumble under the weight of expectation, and I think it’s safe to say it did anything but.

A new Crimson Desert roadmap update shows there’s plenty of life left in it, and it could get another huge bump with a Switch 2 port.

Through InvenGlobal, we learned that Pearl Abyss CEO Heo Jin-young, along with COO Lee Dong-won and CFO Cho Mi-young, gave a special briefing and presentation for shareholders to discuss the future of Crimson Desert and update everyone on Pearl Abyss’ progress.

It was revealed that ‘6 million units sold in 83 days,’ which is a pretty incredible achievement.

Not only this, but Jin-young commented on a Switch 2 port of Crimson Desert:

‘We believe it is important to showcase Crimson Desert on as many platforms as possible. We are reviewing the Nintendo Switch 2, and it is currently being developed to a level where basic gameplay is possible. However, platform expansion is not just a simple port; the key is whether we can fully maintain the graphics, action, and open-world experience of Crimson Desert on that device. The Switch 2 version still requires optimization and technical verification, and we must also review partner collaboration and whether it meets our quality standards. Therefore, it is difficult to confirm a release schedule. We will announce it transparently once there is confirmed information.’

It sounds like there’s a lot of work to be done yet, but a Switch 2 version is in development.

If Crimson Desert cannot be successfully optimized and produced to the high level expected by Pearl Abyss, then the complete build may never see the light of day. Who knows?

For now, we’ll keep a close eye on Crimson Desert’s Switch 2 status.
