How To Unlock Shipwright In Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced—New Naval Officer

There are three new Naval Officers to unlock in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, with each one offering a unique buff to the Jackdaw as you engage in open-sea warfare.

One of them is the Shipwright, who you’ll come to know as Lucy Baldwin. She provides an upgraded defence for the Jackdaw, but it’s not so obvious how you unlock her, as you need to meet a specific criterion to unearth her unique quest.

Thankfully, we’ve got it all figured out. Here’s how to unlock the Shipwright Lucy Baldwin, one of the three new Naval Officers, in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

How To Unlock Shipwright In Black Flag Resynced

In order to unlock the Jackdaw’s Shipwright, you must first complete the Officer Quest: A Proper Shipwright.

However, that quest won’t be available until you’ve completed Sequence 04: This Old Cove, which is a pivotal moment for the campaign. That said, once you’ve finished that quest, you’ll see on your map a new Officer Quest available, which you can easily track in your Quest Log.

Without giving too much away, the quest is pretty plain and simple, though it starts with the infiltration of a Man o’ War in order to save the lady herself. From there, you’ll help her on a quest for vengeance—typical pirate stuff—before she takes to the Jackdaw and offers you a serious upgrade for the ship.

What Does The Shipwright Do In Black Flag Resynced?

Once you’ve unlocked the Shipwright as an Officer for the Jackdaw, you’ll be rewarded with the Perfect Brace.

Now, if you Brace just before an attack hits the Jackdaw, whether it’s a volley of cannonballs or a mortar shell, you’ll take less damage than if you had just Braced regularly. Think of it like a naval parry, and it’s down to your timing.

You’ll know that you’ve pulled it off thanks to a subtle clang sound effect, and you’ll see the ship’s health bar looking better than you may have expected. There’s no cooldown, either, so this one ability adds a whole new layer of depth to naval combat, and should give you an extra advantage when taking on larger ships.
