Microsoft’s wholesale changes across XBOX’s gaming division have sent shockwaves through the industry, and the status of Marvel’s Blade continues to be questioned.
In development from Arkane Studios, Marvel’s Blade has been in the midst of a radio silence for a while, and the XBOX changes, which include the sale of four studios, have led to more questions rising.
For all the latest on the status of Marvel’s Blade at Arkane and whether the title has been canceled, Insider Gaming has you covered.
Has Marvel’s Blade Been Canceled?

No, Marvel’s Blade has not been canceled despite the wholesale changes at XBOX, though the full details on what comes next are yet to be revealed.
In a lengthy post on X, XBOX CEO Asha Sharma confirmed that no publically announced first-party games have been canceled amid the slew of changes at the company, including Marvel’s Blade.
Concerns about the title have been rising amid ongoing quietness on the development side, with Blade not appearing at the recent XBOX Games Showcase, and few details having emerged about the title.
The last information regarding the release was that the title is due to land in Q4 2027, but with just a few months to go until that window opens,
What’s Happened to Arkane Studios?
Full details on what is happening with Arkane Studios have not been shared following XBOX’s major restructure announcement on July 6, as the process is more complicated due to France’s labour laws.
Asha Sharma stated Arkane Studios is “beginning required consultation with its Works Council to review potential strategic options.”
While it’s clear this means a separation from XBOX is on the cards, it remains to be seen whether Arkane Studios becomes independent or finds another publisher.
Further details on the future of Arkane Studios are expected to be announced in due course.
Arkane Studios was fully acquired by ZeniMax Media in 2010, which in turn was acquired by Microsoft in 2021. Prior to this, Arkane Studios was an independent studio.
