XBOX has sent out notifications to Game Pass subscribers reminding them that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 isn’t available on the service at launch, and a separate purchase is necessary.
Previous Call of Duty titles following Microsoft’s takeover of Activision Blizzard have been available day one with a Game Pass subscription, but that changes this year, and XBOX is reminding subscribers ahead of the November launch.
XBOX Reaffirms Modern Warfare 4’s Game Pass Omission at Launch

XBOX Game Pass subscribers have received messages reminding them of the changes to the service that come into effect with Modern Warfare 4, which won’t be included with a subscription at launch.
The message confirms that “Game Pass availability starts Holiday 2027” and that “if you’d like to jump in on day one, you’ll need to purchase the game,” followed by a button that opens Modern Warfare 4 on the Microsoft Store.
The changes to the Game Pass service were announced in April, when it was stated that, beginning with Modern Warfare 4, future Call of Duty titles won’t be available through Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass at launch.
Instead, new Call of Duty titles will be added to the two services the following holiday season, about a year later, which, as Call of Duty fans will know, will be around the same time as the next launch in the series.
This means those who don’t splash out to purchase the latest Call of Duty title separately will remain one release behind in the cycle through Game Pass.
