A new free update has been deployed for Mario Kart World, with version 1.7.0 adding new routes to Knockout Tour and a new feature that allows you to place stickers in Photo Mode.

Released on June 5, 2025, as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive launch title, Mario Kart World has received many free updates in the past year, and the latest adds new content to enjoy.

In a press release from Nintendo, the details of the two new Knockout Tour Routes were revealed, called Drill Rally and Boomerang Rally.

Drill Rally is a route connecting Wario Shipyard and Bowser’s Castle, while Boomerang Rally connects Salty Salty Speedway to Whistlestop Summit.

The routes become selectable once at least one Knockout Tour rally has been cleared, and it’s been confirmed that additional Knockout Tour routes are planned for future updates.

Additionally, the update now allows you to place stickers that you’ve collected when taking pictures using Photo Mode, which can be combined with frames.

Stickers can be placed with touch controls or Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, adding further customization options for those who want to create original photos.

While the new content will be appreciated by players, many are still hoping for DLC to become available for the game, which seems inevitable given the years of support that Mario Kart 8 received.
