UFL developer Strikerz is laying off more than half of the studio. According to a new report, the company is holding mass layoffs as its game hasn’t gained the traction the studio had hoped for upon release.

Russian media outlet App2Top says affected employees have been in communication with company HR about the next steps.

Over 200 People Are Losing Their Jobs

In their report, the outlet says that the staff will be reduced from 450 to 200 people. According to its sources, they say that the problems at the studio have been “brewing for a long time”.

They say the last straw that led to the layoffs was a failed attempt to sign a licensing deal with FIFA. The goal was to hold a major event around the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Without an agreement, however, all plans were scrapped.

Strikerz has not officially confirmed the layoffs. The company also didn’t return our request for comment before publication. Should one be received, it will be added to this story. Before these layoffs, it was reported that many top-level managers had been let go as part of a restructure to turn the game around.
