CDL Major 4’s Championship Sunday Promises To Be Insane

The Call of Duty League has proven one thing with the Major 4 tournament unfolding this weekend in Paris, France. It’s that Call of Duty esports certainly can fill arenas, it just depends on where those arenas are. When you take a tournament like this and plant it in the heart of one of the most dedicated esports followings in the world, you end up with the biggest crowd in COD esports history.

That’s one reason why this tournament’s Championship Sunday will be utterly electrifying. The other reason is that the four teams left in the running represent the top four organizations in this season’s standings, which could make for the most insane finals run in recent Call of Duty history.

Major 4 is Set To Explode Today

Today, the LA Thieves, OpTic Texas, the Paris Gentle Mates, and FaZe Vegas will walk into the Paris La Défense Arena, but only one will walk out with the last Major trophy of the 2026 CDL season. The expectations are that LA Thieves will take the lion’s share of the $365,000 prize pool, but first, they need to beat OpTic Texas in the winner’s bracket.

This has been a wild event so far, thanks to the crowd that has lit up the arena in Paris. It’s the most energetic and devoted crowd we’ve seen in years, and the attendance is off the hook. We’ve had it confirmed that this is the largest crowd to ever attend a Call of Duty LAN by far, and it’s obvious when you watch the broadcast and see the panning shots.

The arena holds 30,000 seated fans, and it looks as though every one of those spots will be filled today for Championship Sunday, especially considering the home team is still in the running.

At this point, it’s tough to predict which team will take the gold.

You’ve got LAT, on an historic burner and sitting on 15 consecutive series wins, eager to win back-to-back Majors and walk into COD Champs in Vegas with white-hot momentum.

You’ve then got OpTic Texas, the reigning world champions with two consecutive COD Champs wins and a win at last year’s Esports World Cup, but nothing in the trophy cabinet from this season thus far, eager to get something before the year is out.

FaZe Vegas, a team that has had a rocky season so far but has managed to find a high placement at every Major, needs to get some traction before COD Champs arrives on home turf, but they’ll become the villain (even more so) if they knock out Paris Gentle Mates later today.

Unfortunately, 64% of Polymarket users predict that FaZe Vegas has that match in the bag.

And finally, there’s Paris Gentle Mates themselves, the hometown heroes, and the organization playing with the full backing of this monumental crowd. It has been a long time since Paris won the opening Major of the season, but the team’s fortunes are turning around, and a phenomenal lower bracket win could mirror what LAT did just weeks ago.

If we’re talking predictions, I’d love to see an OpTic Texas vs. LA Thieves grand final after OpTic sends LAT into the lower bracket to meet FaZe Vegas. The LAT vs. FaZe notion always pops off, and in an ideal world, we’ll have a repeat of Major 3, but it’ll be OpTic Texas that walks away with the trophy, finally earning a chip this season.
