Since its launch earlier this month, NBA The Run has had millions of games played on the various courts around the world. But there’s been one thing that many players have questioned with the game: why is there no single-player mode?
The game is built around online play and teaming up with others. Sometimes, though, you just want to play a basketball game without dealing with anyone else. Developer Play by Play Studios has heard that feedback, and, on Thursday, announced its plans to do something about it with a new single-player Campaign Mode for NBA The Run.
A Campaign Done “Right”
There was no mention of what the new campaign mode would entail. All that was confirmed was that it will be able to be played solo or with friends, both locally and online.
The mode is still in the concept stage, so there isn’t much else to share at the moment. Play by Play Studios says that they want to do this mode right by the players. To do that, they said, it’s going to take time. And right now, they are looking at a Spring 2027 release date for the mode.
More Content Is Coming
In the meantime, NBA The Run is getting more content for players. New players are set to come in August, along with a new camera angle, practice mode, new rulesets, new courts, and leaderboards.
Also planned for later this year is a Ranked/Ladder mode as well as voice chat. More details on specific timelines for those will come at a later date.
The largest update so far for the game comes in August with the start of Season 1. You can also check out the full roadmap below.
