June 24 was a monumental day, as, ahead of pre-orders, Rockstar Games released a ton of info about GTA 6. We learned so many official details, but one social media post attracted attention, and it naturally got everyone worrying, including me at first.
Grand Theft Auto 6 will cost $80, but you and I both know that Rockstar Games wants you to pay extra for the Ultimate Edition and get yourself the locked single-player content.
There’s been a lot of good and bad about GTA 6’s price and content reveals, but the game’s file size will be a whole other kettle of fish.
No, Grand Theft Auto 6 Probably Won’t Require Over 600 GB

Once Grand Theft Auto 6 price news broke online, social media went into meltdown. GTA 6 has probably never been typed into so many search bars before.
There’s a good chance you’ll have come across a post from @GameJoker_, or other accounts that reposted the OG message, showing that GTA 6’s Approximate Size on Xbox is 676.7 GB.
Well…if you look closely at the facts, you’ll realise this is probably fake:
- Joker is a notorious parody account, and the account’s description even says so: ‘#1 Source for PARODY Gaming News/Leaks | Reputable Insider | GTA 6 Voice Actor | These are fake stories’
- 676.7 GB? Not the 67 meme…
- The image clearly says ‘Install on your home Xbox One,’ and GTA 6 isn’t releasing on Xbox One
So, I think we can safely rule out this image being real if you had any worries about your storage size.
However, it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that the full game ends up being 200-300 GB. If so, there’s going to be some tough decisions for console owners with limited storage space.
