Netflix has revealed its upcoming launch of the first-person horror title Unhinged, from the developer of Oxenfree, Night School Studio.

The streaming behemoth has dipped its toes in video game titles before, and while many have been interactive live-action experiences, Unhinged has a standard approach, using your phone as a controller, and features a star-studded cast from the world of gaming and Hollywood.

Videogame legend Troy Baker, whose long list of illustrious roles includes Joel in The Last of Us, Jonesy in Fortnite, and Indiana Jones in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, is joined in the title by familiar names from the world of Netflix and movies.

Sadie Sink, who rose to fame in Stranger Things and is set to feature in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is another starring name, alongside Zoe Kravitz, the actress of Catwoman in the most recent Batman film and the voice of Mary Jane in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

A major feature of Unhinged will be using your phone to receive phone calls and text messages, as well as looking around the environment with a virtual flashlight.

The full game will last for under an hour, but the aim is to make Unhinged replayable with various narrative branches, and game director Sam Warner told Rolling Stone it was heavily influenced by the Nintendo Wii and DS.

“I grew up with those, and I think that focus on novel innovative play was something that we really started this game with. If you’ve got Netflix and you have a phone, then this is for you.”

Unhinged launches on Netflix on June 30. Check out the trailer below.
