Meccha Chameleon has achieved a significant commercial milestone, with total sales now surpassing 5 million copies worldwide.
When a game catches fire the way that Meccha Chameleon has, it can be astonishing to watch sales numbers and player counts rise. With a price tag of only $5.99 on Steam, there’s an easy entryway for curious players, and as such, the game has now reached 5 million players.
Meccha Chameleon Surpasses 5 Million Sales

The game is among the top 10 most played on Steam currently, ahead of games such as Apex Legends and Destiny 2. There are currently 186 concurrent players, and the all-time high saw over 280,000 players on the budget title.
The game was developed by a solo developer, lemorion_1224. The developer announced on Steam that a new official map and additional game options would be coming in the near future and posted a message thanking players for helping the game reach the milestone so quickly.
Less than a week beforehand, the game celebrated 1 million copies sold on June 13. There have been numerous updates since the game launched, with the most recent a small one that fixed issues related to Steam Workshop and prevented detected players from being deleted after a certain period. As of Wednesday, June 17, a map had been added to the game, and several changes have been made to the online search function, voice chat icons, and more.
In an era where the games industry is experiencing different tumultuous decisions and cutbacks, a solo-developed game has taken the World by storm. Time will tell how long this wave of momentum lasts for Meccha Chameleon, but for now, players are enjoying the ride.
