Bloodborne ‘Remastered’ Surfaces Thanks to Huge Mod Effort

Players can finally get a feel of Bloodborne Remastered; however, it is only available as a mod for PS5.

Bloodborne Remastered is a dream that seems unlikely to become a reality. Players have likely accepted the PS4 version as the only official version that will ever be released. A remake was pitched to the devs, but that never came to fruition. However, a new mod for hacked PS5 consoles could provide the closest experience to a remastered version of the game until FromSoftware makes an official announcement.

Bloodborne PS5 Mod Brings Higher Resolution, 120Hz Refresh Rate, and More

According to a report by Digital Foundry, modder Christina has released a Bloodborne Remastered mod for PS5 consoles that have been exploited. The new patch allows the game to use the extra 4GB of system memory that the current-gen console supports. Along with that, the Bloodborne mod also brings support for a 120Hz refresh rate and VRR.

The team at Digital Foundry conducted tests on the new mod, initially focusing on its 4K support, which performed as anticipated. The mod provided a higher overall resolution, with even the fonts rendered at native 4K; however, the bitmap art remained at a lower resolution. Additionally, the game ran at a frame rate of 33.3ms frames at this resolution.

The team also tested 60 FPS for the Bloodborne Remastered PS5 mod and achieved a locked framerate at 2304×1296 resolution. When increased to 2560×1440, most of the game ran at 60 FPS; however, alpha transparency effects brought the frame rate down to 50-60 FPS. 120Hz and VRR can provide more FPS, with the game running between 85-120 fps at 1080p and dropping to 50-75 fps at 1440p. Moreover, the input lag was also reduced.

Players should be aware that this mod is not easily accessible to all PS5 users. It is only compatible with hacked consoles that have not been updated with system software since 2022.
