The Metal Slug development team has announced two new projects as they continue to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the franchise.
The Metal Slug franchise first arrived in 1996, releasing on the Neo Geo. It would later be ported to the Sega Saturn and Sony PlayStation. Over the years, there have been more than a dozen titles in the franchise, including seven mainline games. Most recently, Metal Slug Tactics was released in late 2024 for PC, the Nintendo Switch, the Sony PlayStation 4 and 5, the Xbox One, and the Xbox Series family of consoles.
Now, two new projects are in the works, including a brand-new mobile game and another brand-new experience about which few details are known.
The announcement came from the official Metal Slug accounts on social media. It was revealed that Metal Slug Rush is the name of the new mobile game. It is being released by RingGames under an official license from SNK. The second title doesn’t even reveal a name. All that was said was that it’s a new experience and that the reboot mission celebrating the game’s anniversary is far from over.
