G2 Esports did not scrim rivals Fnatic once throughout the LEC Spring Split 2026 on their road to the title.

G2 won their third LEC split in a row, defeating Karmine Corp 3-2 in yet another thrilling five-game series between the two teams.

The League of Legends team’s general manager, Romain Bigeard, revealed G2’s scrim results throughout the split, which revealed some surprising details.

One of which was that G2 did not play any practice games against their oldest rivals, Fnatic.

Fnatic Are in Trouble

Fnatic are continuing to struggle this year, having failed to even qualify for the Playoffs altogether in Spring.

It’s possible that G2 didn’t think Fnatic would give them enough competition in practice.

G2 also didn’t scrim against Team Heretics, Shifters, or SK Gaming, the other three teams that failed to make the Playoffs.

However, G2 did play against tier-two teams Galions and Solary, who impressed against LEC opposition in the Esports World Cup Qualifiers.

In their current form, Fnatic now find themselves at risk of missing out on the LoL World Championships for the first time in 10 years.

Fnatic have attended every LoL Worlds from 2017 onwards and attended the majority of the events before that too.

The team is also in a long trophy drought, having not won a title since Summer 2019.

As a result, Fnatic are apparently looking to replace their toplaner with a Korean pro to try and turn their season around.

G2 Scrims Anger KCorp Fans

Fnatic fans weren’t the only ones upset with G2’s scrimming decisions.

The post from Bigeard revealed that G2 stopped scrimming Karmine Corp four weeks into the split.

This was most likely so that they had an edge over their main title contenders and didn’t make their opposition stronger.

Some KC fans were furious over this, claiming that G2 were holding their region back by not allowing other teams to get stronger.

G2 have also secured their future results by extending Steven ‘Hans Sama’ Liv’s contract to 2028.
