A recent claim suggests that Resident Evil 0 Remake was rebooted during development, with a new team now handling it.
There have been longstanding rumors about the development of a Resident Evil 0 Remake, alongside discussions about a Code Veronica Remake. While one of these games has been officially revealed and players are eagerly anticipating its release, the development of the 0 Remake appears to have encountered some challenges. Fortunately, it is now in capable hands.
The claims about a mid-development reboot for Resident Evil 0 Remake come from the latest post on X (formerly Twitter) by Dusk Golem. The insider recently replied to a comment about 0 Remake being handled by the Resident Evil 3 Remake team, stating that Resident Evil 0 remake was “rebooted mid-dev”. After the reboot, the remake is being led by ‘Capcom Div 1″.
Jun Takeuchi leads Capcom Division 1, the company’s flagship development team, which handles mainline AAA entries from series such as Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Dragon’s Dogma, and more. So fans will be happy to know that the main team at Capcom is handling development of this remake.
Resident Evil 0 was originally released in 2002 and received a remastered version in 2016. This game acts as a prequel to the first Resident Evil title, taking players back to 1998 to investigate a series of unusual murders on the outskirts of Raccoon City. Players take on the roles of two characters: rookie cop Rebecca Chambers and death row convict, ex-Navy lieutenant Billy Coen. Together, they uncover the truth behind the events that led to the horrors of the original game set in the Mansion.
In other news, previous rumors suggest that Resident Evil: Veronica arrives in 2027, with 2028 reserved for the Zero Remake. Additionally, Resident Evil Requiem’s story DLC is further away than players thought. What are your thoughts on Resident Evil 0 remake being rebooted mid-dev?
