To me, my X-Men! Cyclops is gearing up to join the Marvel Rivals roster alongside Season 8.5 this Friday, on June 12, and it’s been confirmed that he arrives as a Duelist—sorry, Vanguard fans.
The leader of the X-Men was originally unveiled during the Season 8 trailers, but with Devil Dinosaur arriving as the first hero, fans have had to wait until the mid-season split for Cyclops to be added, and after plenty of speculating and theorising, his role has now been confirmed.
Cyclops Moves & Season 8.5 Details
Not only did we find out that Cyclops was a Duelist in Marvel Rivals, but we also got a quick look at his move set, as well as plenty of other content, in the brand new Dev Vision.
As you can imagine, his optic blasts are at the center of his kit. He can fire them directly at enemies or ricochet them off the environment and other foes. It’s not all for damage, though, as the kinetic force can also help him weave through the battlefield.
As for his ultimate, there’s nothing holding Scott back, as he unleashes an apocalyptic optic blast that obliterates everything in its path. Now, you might think Wolverine and Cyclops would be rivals, but the two have a brand new team-up, Blast Slash, which allows Wolverine to have supercharged claws.
Content doesn’t stop with Cyclops, though, as a new game mode, Bounty Annihilation, is coming to Marvel Rivals; this 18v18 game mode will even bring with it a new map. If that isn’t exciting enough, how about a new wave of Summer-themed Swimsuit Special costumes? Feel free to rock them at the new social hub, Hellfire Bay Beach.
Finally, the next step of the Path to Doomsday has been delayed to late July, with phase three held back until mid-October. This is all in an effort to improve the overall gameplay experience after a lacklustre first outing with the Avengers.
