Paramount Games Studio was announced on June 6. After revealing their first game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, one of the executives is now commenting on the future direction of the new business endeavor.

Paramount is the parent company of CBS, MTV, Nickelodeon, and more. They recently decided to enter the games industry as a result of the 2025 merger with Skydance Media. The group reportedly began coalescing in 2025 as well. Reportedly, the team consists of two studios that previously belonged to Skydance. One of them is the studio responsible for making the upcoming Marvel 1943 game.

Paramount Games Discusses Long-Term Strategy

In an interview with Game File, Shawn Kittelsen, the head of creative at the new studio, called the division a content pillar alongside filming TV. He said that gaming has been a priority for the company since the merger. The new Ninja Turtles game is just one of the major IPs the company has access to. However, he also revealed the other three properties he considers part of the “Big Four.” Those include SpongeBob SquarePants, Star Trek, and Avatar: The Last Airbender.

“You take this list that you have of all the great IPs, and you kind of rank them by, all right, what’s gonna make the easiest transitions to games?” Kittelsen said. “What’s got the most fan appetite for games? Which platforms is that audience using? Like, I don’t think that a AAA survivor game necessarily is what that audience is looking for, right? So we need to find out where we can meet that audience in games.”

Furthermore, he would say that the worst strategy the team could have is to become too overzealous in acquisitions and get too deep into a portfolio of games they aren’t prepared to support.
