Helldivers 2 Roguelite Mode ‘Planet Warfronts’ Details Revealed

Helldivers 2 developers have finally addressed their roguelite mode, dubbed Planet Warfronts.

For those unaware, towards the end of 2025, Arrowhead Game Studios piqued every player’s curiosity when the CCO mentioned they already had a prototype for a roguelite mode that would fundamentally change the game. Now, the details of this roguelite mode have been revealed through a new post on Steam.

In a detailed blog post on Steam, the developers of Helldivers 2 finally addressed the roguelite systems they’ve been experimenting with, which they refer to as Planet Warfronts. Game Director Mikael Eriksson explained that, before the game’s launch, the team aimed to implement dynamic warfronts on various planets, requiring community decisions to liberate them. However, they did not have enough content to implement this concept to their satisfaction.

Now, the developers have enough content to do justice to Planet Warfronts and have grouped its missions across three categories. First is ‘Defend” missions in liberated territories, second is “Frontline War” missions on the frontlines, and the last one is Behind Enemy Lines” missions in enemy-controlled territory.

In Helldivers 2’s roguelite mode, called Planet Warfronts, players will battle to conquer key strategic locations on various planets, such as cities. These locations will feature different enemy variants, and players can expect gameplay-altering effects in the final version of this mode. Additionally, players will encounter consequences based on their progress toward planet liberation goals, such as liberating a city within a set time limit or disabling enemy artillery at a specific location to unlock essential Operations.

The developers aim to make planet liberation more fun with the new system and want to share one of their ideas currently in active development. More information will be shared in the next few months.
