According to a reputable insider, players will not have to wait several years for the release of God of War: Laufey.
In case you missed the latest PlayStation State of Play, Santa Monica Studios announced a brand-new God of War title, which has Kratos’ wife, Faye, front and center. The announcement was also not just a teaser or a title reveal; players got to see over 20 minutes of gameplay of what looked like the first mission. However, no release date or window was mentioned.
God of War Laufey Release ‘Isn’t Years Away’
A recent post on Jason Schreier’s BlueSky account discusses God of War: Laufey not receiving a release window at the State of Play reveal. Schreier’s post asks players not to overthink the upcoming title’s release date or window, as compared to “a lot of other big announcements, this one *isn’t* years away.” In the comments on this post, Schreier was asked whether God of War: Laufey would be released in 2028, to which the insider replied, “Definitely not.”
God of War: Laufey is the next main installment in the God of War series developed by Santa Monica. The story follows Faye’s journey, beginning immediately after her funeral, as she finds herself in the gods’ afterlife. In a realm known as Everywhen, she confronts gods and creatures from various mythologies while seeking a way to escape.
Faye, known as the Golden Hand of Jotnar, possesses such power that even Thor regards her as an equal. She can withstand hits as heavily as Kratos, leading the developers to design her combat style to emphasize lethality, power, and fluidity, as showcased in the new trailer.
In other news, God of War Laufey has brought back a feature that hasn’t been seen in the past 13 years. Additionally, an actor from ABC’s Lost will play Freya in the upcoming live-action adaptation of God of War. What are your thoughts on God of War: Laufey’s release coming before 2028?
