No, the release date for God of War: Laufey has not been shared following the reveal of the game at the June 2026 PlayStation State of Play Showcase.

While the footage revealed a huge chunk of gameplay from the upcoming title, as well as introducing new characters and mechanics, the absence of a specific release date, or even a broader release window, stood out.

Instead, PlayStation is leaving players guessing when it comes to the specific release date of the title, but previous experience and what we’ve seen from the game so far, provide some indication.

God of War: Laufey Likely Release Window

God of War: Laufey could be set to launch in 2027, with the gameplay shown at the June 2026 State of Play showcasing that the title is fairly advanced in development.

The footage was not cut, and represented a full 20 minutes at the start of the game, including cutscenes and combat. Therefore, it suggests that development is fairly progressed, and it could emerge as a big PlayStation 5 exclusive in 2027.

The release window is difficult to nail down, however, as the past few God of War titles have released in entirely separate periods of the year.

2018’s God of War, which marked the start of the Norse saga, was released in April, while the sequel, Ragnarok, was released in November 2022.

The franchise has exploded in popularity since God of War, however, which was crowned Game of the Year in 2018, and releasing in the 2027 holiday window on PlayStation 5 therefore seems to be the most likely release period.
