Details on player movement in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 have been revealed, and the standout piece of news is that Omnimovement will not be making an appearance, whilst slide canceling makes a return.
First introduced in Black Ops 6, Omnimovement allowed for unprecedented movement, with the player being able to sprint, slide and dive in any direction. It sounds minor at first, but it was a drastic gameplay update that allowed for full 360-degree freedom of movement.
Further Modern Warfare 4 Movement Details
Omnimovement has been omitted from Modern Warfare 4, as Infinity Ward claims that Modern Warfare can be different from Black Ops. That means no more sliding around the maps without a care in the world!
That being said, don’t expect to cut around the multiplayer maps clunkily, as the upcoming COD title has its own suite of new and improved movement mechanics, as well as some updated classics.
Perhaps controversially, slide canceling will be possible in Modern Warfare 4, as well as sliding into ADS. Tactical Sprint also makes a return, though it’s been made more realistic as you’ll see your character slowly run out of stamina.
As for some standout features, you’ll be able to dive backwards into prone, as well as mantle ledges whilst keeping your gun up. In fact, climbing as a whole has been upgraded, with ledge hanging, pole climbing, and jumping from ladders all possible.
