The news is finally official, and Planet Zoo 2 is set to release later this year, alongside bringing the heavily requested additions of birds and aquatic animals.
Planet Zoo was released in November 2019 to rave reviews, following on as a spiritual successor to the Zoo Tycoon franchise, and after a wide array of DLC additions, alongside console releases, a sequel is coming in October, with some big additions.
Planet Zoo 2 Releases October 13

After a 24-hour stream countdown, the first trailer for Planet Zoo 2 revealed a release date of October 13, 2026, and, unlike it’s predecessor, it will be released simultaneously on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
Frontier, the team behind the Jurassic World Evolution titles, describes Planet Zoo 2 as the “most advanced zoo simulation game to date,” with the headline additions being aviaries and aquariums.
While the initial game featured semi-aquatic animals, including the DLC additions of polar bears, sea lions, and more, Planet Zoo 2 heads deeper beneath the waves, with both freshwater and saltwater aquariums to build.
The announce trailer featured a host of recognisable animals from across land, sea, and air, including tigers, sunfish, turtles, elephants, zebras, chimpanzees, alligators, toucans, and more.
The game will also place a greater focus on conservation outside of zoos, with players tasked with releasing animals into fully customisable Wildlife Reserves across the globe.
Pre-orders are now available, including a Deluxe Edition that features six additional animal species: the golden eagle, golden lion tamarin, axolotl, blue & gold fusilier, hammerhead shark, and longfin batfish.
More details are set to follow with Planet Zoo 2’s appearances at the Wholesome Direct on June 6 and the PC Gaming Show on June 7.
