The IEM Cologne 2026 Major is upon us. On June 2, Cologne will host its first Major in 10 years, acting as the culmination of the first half of the 2026 Counter-Strike calendar.

IEM Cologne 2026 Major Schedule and Format

The IEM Cologne 2026 Major features three Swiss stages, followed by an eight-team single-elimination, winner-takes-all bracket in the Lanxess Arena. The dates for the stages are:

  • Stage 1: June 2-5
  • Stage 2: June 6-9
  • Stage 3: June 11-15
  • Playoffs: June 18-21

Following an announcement from ESL in February, Stage 3 of the IEM Cologne 2026 Major will feature no Best of 1s, but Best of 1s remain for Stages 1 and 2. The format for the Swiss stages and Playoffs is as follows:

Stage 1 & 2:

  • 16-team Swiss stage
  • Elimination and promotion matches are Best of 3
  • Other matches are Best of 1
  • Three wins to advance to the next stage; three losses means elimination
  • Eight teams progress; eight are eliminated

Stage 3:

  • 16 Team Swiss stage
  • All matches Best of 3
  • Three wins to advance to the Playoffs; three losses means elimination.

Playoffs:

  • Eight-team single-elimination bracket
  • All matches are Best of 3, except for the Best of 5 Grand Final

IEM Cologne 2026 Major Location

The IEM Cologne Major will take place in Cologne, Germany, featuring two venues where fans will be able to watch the action. From Stage 3, fans will join the tournamnet at the Cologne Palladium before Counter-Strike returns to its ancestral home in the Lanxess Arena for the playoffs.

Looking further into the tournament, there is no doubt that Vitality will be the favorites to claim the Cologne trophy, which would be their third consecutive Major victory after Austin and Budapest wins.

That would equal Astralis’ three in a row from the FACEIT London Major to the StarLadder Berlin 2019 Major. Additionally, Vitality would equal Astralis’ record of four organization majors.
