CD Projekt Red reveals that Songs of the Past DLC will update The Witcher 3’s PC system requirements.
After months of anticipation and various leaks and rumors, the third DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has finally been announced. The expansion, titled “Songs of the Past,” is scheduled for release in 2027. Along with this news, players have been informed that there have been changes to the game’s system requirements for running it on PC.
The Witcher 3 New PC System Requirements, No More Windows 10 and HDD Support
A new post on X (formerly Twitter) reveals that players will have to abide by a new set of PC system requirements for The Witcher 3 once the Songs of the Past Expansion drops. The developers have stated that the updated requirements will “ensure smooth performance and compatibility going forward.” Check out the new list of minimum requirements below:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600, Intel Core i5-8400
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660, AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB
- VRAM: 6 GB
- RAM: 12 GB
- Storage: 70 GB SSD
- OS: 64-bit Windows 11
The support page states that Windows 11 will be the minimum requirement for both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. Moreover, no more HDD support, only SSD will be supported for faster load times, smoother asset streaming, and improved performance. Lastly, the game will only run on DirectX 12 and on processors and graphics cards supported on Windows 11. However, it is possible to revert to an earlier version.

Additionally, the Witcher 4 team has expanded to 499 developers at CD Projekt Red, showing the studio’s commitment to its next big RPG.
