Nintendo Direct June 2026—Rumored Date & Games

While Nintendo isn’t officially part of the Summer Game Fest lineup, the company delivers a jaw-dropping Nintendo Direct around the same time each year, and the next Nintendo Direct, presumably for June 2026, is expected to be bigger than a mushroom-enhanced Bowser.

It used to be tradition to see PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo splash out during E3 season with huge showcases to take center stage and let everyone know what’s going on. Now, it’s largely just the Xbox Games Showcase, but a Nintendo Direct always happens during Summer Game Fest week.

Read on for the latest details on the expected June 2026 Nintendo Direct.

When is the June 2026 Nintendo Direct Expected? Date & Time, Explained

Nintendo hasn’t announced an official date, but the next Nintendo Direct will likely happen in mid-June, toward the tail end (or after) Summer Game Fest 2026.

If we look back, there’s a consistent pattern of June Nintendo Directs. Now, not all of them are the glorious, hour-long presentations littered with the AAA announcements you’re after.

Check out the last few to see what kind of showcases they were, and when they took place.

Type of Showcase Date
Donkey Kong Bananza June 18, 2025
Nintendo Direct June 18, 2024
Nintendo Direct June 21, 2023
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 June 22, 2022
Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase June 28, 2022

As you can see, since we switched to the Summer Game Fest format, Nintendo has consistently dropped a June showcase, but the extent of it is 50/50. For example, the 2025 edition was a sole focus on Donkey Kong Bananza, whereas the ‘major’ presentation was saved for September 2025.

It’s unclear if the likely June 2026 showcase will be an indie or game-focused show, or if it will be a loaded edition.

Furthermore, the ever-reliable Jeff Grubb believes that a June Nintendo Direct is also pretty much a lock for ‘Mid-June.’ Again, Grubb’s claim is likely based on historical data more than anything, but it’s most likely the case.

We’ll keep you updated on the next Nintendo Direct and news around it.

What Games Could Feature During the Nintendo Direct June 2026?

The rumor mill for the June 2026 Nintendo Direct is a wild one, with everything from an Ocarina of Time Remake to the announcement of the next 3D Mario and much more being discussed.

Zelda Remake

Let’s start with the major Legend of Zelda Remake apparently coming this year. Nintendo loves its remasters and remakes, and it’s been a while since we had the last Zelda makeover. Well, insider NateTheHate claims: “In the second half of 2026, approaching the holidays, we are going to receive an Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2.”

If this happens, it will more than likely need to be announced sooner rather than later, and where better to do it than the June 2026 showcase?

Next 3D Mario

Same source again, and this time NateTheHate claims that the next ‘3D Mario will be released in 2027.‘

It’s been an eternity since Super Mario Odyssey. It’s almost a crime how long we’ve had to wait for the next 3D Mario game, but if the June 2026 Direct is a biggie, we could easily get an official reveal of the next entry in the franchise.

Other Announcements

We could see any number of things, honestly. Nintendo has had a lot going on in 2026, and not all of it has been good. The price increase has been panned worldwide, obviously, but the company is promising big things to make up for this.

Nintendo is promising a strong Switch 2 lineup after the price increase.

It makes the mentions of Zelda and Mario look credible, and we’ve seen other tidbits, such as Star Fox being announced for Nintendo Switch 2, and a fun LEGO Donkey Kong set being teased by Nintendo.
