How To Get PlayStation Trophies Improvement Survey—PlayStation Trophies Survey Access

The PlayStation Trophies improvement survey has been a big topic of conversation in the PlayStation community and beyond. Sony’s in-game system rewards you for certain tasks and has been a mainstay since 2008. However, a new survey suggests changes are coming, and if you want to fill it out, read on for the latest details.

I first reported here at Insider Gaming about the interesting experience I had whilst enjoying some leisurely PS5 time. One sudden feedback prompt made it quite clear that Sony and PlayStation could be about to make some changes to Trophies.

But before we get that, let’s start from the beginning.

What is the PlayStation Trophies Improvement Survey?

The PlayStation Trophies improvement survey is a new mini-questionnaire being given to select users. It features questions about the current state of PS Trophies, how you find the overall system, and how to improve it.

I grew up as a PlayStation gamer, and there was a point where I became intensely jealous of Xbox Achievements. It was such a great concept: Extra virtual accomplishments to extend and prolong your purchase. More value for money, in essence!

Sony finally launched PlayStation Trophies with Super Stardust HD in 2008 (which I bought straightaway and got every Trophy for), and it’s been a core part of the PlayStation fabric for 16 years and counting. However, changes have been made along the way, such as the ability to reorganize your collection or hide lists where you have 0% of the Trophies, for example.

However, it can’t be a coincidence that ‘Xbox player voices‘ has helped usher in some big changes to Achievements, with player feedback asking for even more improvements, and Sony deploys a PlayStation Trophies improvement survey out of the blue.

Having filled it out myself, I can tell you it includes a few basic questions about the PlayStation Trophies setup. Each question has five tick boxes with the usual bookends of Agree and Disagree, to varying extremes.

Then there’s the big one at the end, a completely empty box asking: ‘How can we improve the Trophies experience on PlayStation?’

Based on my own research and a lack of clarity on Sony’s part, it appears the initial notification that prompts the survey is completely random, but could be triggered by earning multiple PlayStation Trophies from here on out, or being a long-time PS player.

Here’s what happened with me:

  1. I was hunting down PlayStation Trophies for Saros.
  2. After getting close to completing the list, I received a notification asking about my satisfaction with PS Trophies (see the picture above).
  3. I gave a response and submitted the feedback.
  4. A follow-up message told me that I would be sent a survey to complete.
  5. Sure enough, the email account linked to my PlayStation account had the survey delivered to the inbox.
  6. Opening up the link took me to the PlayStation Trophies improvement survey.

You will get this screen to let you know if the survey is en route.

As of writing, and I’ll update this guide if we get official confirmation, Sony hasn’t said how or why these surveys are happening. Logically, PS Trophies changes will be happening based on the survey results, so every answer matters.

I also understand that you want to fill it out, especially if you’re a trophy hunter.

After speaking to several members of the Insider Gaming team and people outside the bubble, the initial prompt does appear to be quite random.

Using myself as an example, I’ve been a PSN account holder for nearly 20 years, going back to my first PlayStation 3. I have over 16,000 PlayStation Trophies, and my recent Saros Platinum Trophy is well over 200 and counting. It could be a case of Sony asking long-time players and seasoned Trophy hunters, or it was a massive coincidence that I was selected.

Additionally, I went into my PlayStation Account settings, and under Privacy Settings, then Privacy, and finally PS5 Data You Provide, I have Full ticked, which will ‘Share behavioural data to help us continually improve and personalise your experience.’

Does this directly correlate to my account’s relationship with the survey and why I was notified? I can’t say. If you want to increase your chances of getting the survey, it might help to have this selected, but this is speculation on my part.

Rest assured, if a concrete method of getting the survey is found, I will update this guide. Keep checking back for updates on how to see the PlayStation Trophies improvement survey for yourself.
